Soften lines and gently lift with Dysport®
Dysport is a botulinum toxin injectable used to relax the muscles that create expression lines. At Lift Clinic Toronto, our Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioner use Dysport to smooth frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet, and to soften the muscles that pull certain features downward. Both FDA-approved and Health Canada-approved, Dysport is a trusted neuromodulator with a long clinical track record.
We take a start-low, go-slow approach. The goal is not a frozen look. It is to help you look rested and refreshed, like a version of yourself who slept well and feels confident.
Treatment areas
Dysport is most associated with the upper face, but a well-planned treatment does more than erase lines. When placed strategically, it can relax the muscles that pull features down and let the opposing muscles lift.
- Frown lines between the brows (the “11s”)
- Forehead lines
- Crow’s feet around the eyes
- A subtle brow lift to open the eye area
- Lifting the corners of the mouth
- Softening a downturned or dimpled chin
- Refining the jawline and softening neck bands
- Lip lines and a lip flip
Dysport is also used for medical concerns such as teeth grinding and TMJ tension and excessive sweating. During your complimentary consultation, we map the muscles that are shaping your expression and build a plan around them.
How it works
Dysport contains abobotulinumtoxinA, which temporarily interrupts the signal between nerve and muscle. When a muscle stops contracting, the skin above it stops creasing, and existing lines have a chance to soften.
The Dysport molecule is smaller than the one in Botox, so it tends to distribute a little more evenly across the muscle and absorb quickly. In our experience treating patients in King West, this makes Dysport a strong choice for broader areas like the forehead, where a smooth, even softening looks most natural. It is one reason our nurse injectors often reach for Dysport in cosmetic work.
Why our team often chooses Dysport
Dysport and Botox are close relatives, and both deliver strong, reliable results. The differences are practical, and they guide how we plan a treatment.
Dysport often takes effect a little faster. Many patients notice movement softening within two to three days, with full results settling by two weeks. That speed is why some people book Dysport before a wedding or a trip. For many patients it also lasts slightly longer than Botox between appointments.
A note on units: Dysport and Botox are measured on different scales, so their unit counts are not the same product for product. At Lift Clinic we reconstitute and dose Dysport so that it maps cleanly to how we dose Botox, which keeps pricing and planning easy to understand. You are never paying for “more units” of a diluted product. If you want the full comparison, our guide to Botox vs Dysport walks through the details.
What to expect
A Dysport appointment is quick, usually 15 to 30 minutes. We start with a consultation to understand your goals and assess how your muscles move. The injections themselves feel like small pinches, and no numbing is required for most people.
You can return to your day right away. Results appear gradually over the first two weeks rather than all at once, which is part of what keeps them looking natural. Most patients return every three to four months to maintain their results, though this varies from person to person.
After treatment care
Dysport aftercare is simple.
- Stay upright for about four hours and avoid lying face down
- Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot yoga for the rest of the day
- Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for about four hours
- Hold off on facials or other facial treatments for two weeks
Mild redness or small bumps at the injection sites are normal and settle within a few hours. If you have any questions after your appointment, our team is a phone call away.

Dysport frequently asked questions
What is Dysport?
Dysport is an injectable botulinum toxin (abobotulinumtoxinA) that temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for expression lines. It is both FDA-approved and Health Canada-approved, and it is used to soften frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet, and to create subtle lifting effects.
Is Dysport the same as Botox?
They are close, but not identical. Both are botulinum toxin type A products that relax targeted muscles. Dysport has a smaller molecule that tends to distribute more evenly, and it often takes effect a little faster. At Lift Clinic we choose between them based on the area being treated and your goals.
How long does Dysport take to work?
Many patients notice their expression softening within two to three days. Full results usually settle in by about two weeks as the muscle fully relaxes.
How long does Dysport last?
Most patients enjoy their results for three to four months, and for some it lasts slightly longer. Duration depends on your muscle strength, metabolism, and the area treated. Regular treatments can help results hold more consistently over time.
Does Dysport hurt?
Most patients describe the injections as small, quick pinches. The appointment is brief and numbing is rarely needed, though we are happy to discuss comfort options during your consultation.
How much does Dysport cost in Toronto?
Cost depends on the areas treated and the plan we build together, since everyone’s muscles and goals are different. We provide a clear quote at your complimentary consultation so there are no surprises.
Can I switch from Botox to Dysport?
Yes. Many patients move between the two, and you do not need to wait for a previous treatment to fully wear off. We will factor in your history when planning your next appointment.
Can Dysport look natural?
Yes, and that is our priority. With a conservative, start-low approach and careful muscle mapping, Dysport softens lines while preserving natural movement and expression. For more on this, see our treatments for wrinkles and fine lines.
Who is a good candidate for Dysport?
Adults in good general health who want to soften dynamic lines or achieve a subtle lift are often good candidates. Dysport is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with certain neuromuscular conditions. Your nurse injector will confirm suitability at your consultation.
