Medical and therapeutic Botox
Some treatments are booked and priced differently from cosmetic Botox.
- Jaw and TMJ, and trap tox for the shoulders and neck: TMJ and teeth grinding and trapezius treatments are priced per unit like cosmetic Botox, but these are large muscles that use more units, so the total is higher than a forehead treatment. We give you an estimate at your consultation.
- Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis): Underarm or scalp treatment is priced as a package rather than per unit. Without insurance, 100 units is $800 or 200 units is $1,100, and HST does not apply. If you have insurance coverage and have been pre-approved, there is a $200 administration fee. Why very cheap Botox is a red flag
Real product costs roughly $5 to $7 per unit at wholesale, so a clinic advertising Botox well below that is usually cutting a corner somewhere. It can mean product diluted more than the label recommends, product sourced from outside Health Canada's approved supply, or an unlicensed injector. In Ontario, neuromodulators should be injected by a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, or physician.
