At Lift Clinic Toronto, we’ve always been committed to bringing you the most advanced, clinically-proven treatments in aesthetic medicine. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that we are officially the first clinic in Ontario, and only the second in Canada, to offer Tixel® 2 skin resurfacing technology.
This milestone reflects our dedication to staying at the forefront of innovation, ensuring our clients have access to breakthrough treatments that deliver real results with minimal downtime. But beyond the excitement of being first, what really matters is what Tixel® 2 can do for you and your skin.
If you’ve been searching for a skin resurfacing treatment that addresses fine lines, wrinkles, texture concerns, and signs of aging without the extended recovery of traditional lasers, Tixel® 2 might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
What Is Tixel® 2 Skin Resurfacing?
Tixel® 2 represents the next generation of fractional skin rejuvenation, and it works quite differently from traditional lasers or microneedling. Developed by Novoxel, this Health Canada approved device uses patented Thermo-Mechanical Action (TMA) technology to deliver controlled thermal energy directly to the skin through a medical-grade titanium tip.
Here’s what makes it special: unlike laser treatments that use light energy, or microneedling that relies on physical needles, Tixel® 2 transfers heat through direct contact. The device features tiny pyramidal tips made from biocompatible titanium that are heated to a precise temperature. When briefly applied to your skin’s surface, these tips create controlled micro-injuries and temporary micro-channels, triggering your skin’s natural healing response.
This process stimulates collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer, smoother, and more youthful looking skin. The micro-channels created during treatment also allow for enhanced absorption of rejuvenating serums, maximizing your results.
What’s Different About Tixel® 2?
If you’ve heard of or experienced the original Tixel treatment, you’ll appreciate the improvements in this second generation device. Tixel® 2 has been designed to feel gentler, work more precisely, and deliver more predictable results. Patients often notice that the treatment feels smoother and more comfortable, with less need for numbing cream, and that recovery is quicker compared to the first generation.
Another important advancement is the level of customization. With Tixel® 2, we can fine-tune settings more precisely, adjusting treatments to your skin type, the area being treated, and your lifestyle needs. Whether you want a subtle glow with minimal downtime or a deeper resurfacing for more dramatic change, we can tailor the treatment intensity accordingly.
The improved tip design also makes delicate areas, like the eyelids and around the mouth, easier to treat safely and effectively. These are areas where many other technologies simply can’t go.
Why Lift Clinic Toronto Was First to Bring Tixel® 2 to Ontario
Being the first clinic in Ontario to offer Tixel® 2 wasn’t a coincidence, it’s a reflection of who we are as a clinic. Since opening our doors in the King West neighbourhood over five years ago, we’ve made it our mission to seek out and bring the most advanced, evidence based treatments to our clients.
This isn’t the first time we’ve led the way in Ontario. We were also the first clinic in the province to introduce Sylfirm X RF Microneedling, another breakthrough technology that has become a favourite among our clients for treating everything from pigmentation to skin laxity.
As a female-founded, independent clinic, we’re not backed by outside investors or part of a corporate chain. This gives us the freedom to make decisions based solely on what’s best for our clients, not what a corporate office dictates. When we see a technology that offers genuine benefits with proven results, we move quickly to make it available.
Our early adoption also means we now have the most extensive experience with Tixel® 2 in the region. That matters because, with any treatment, expertise and technique play a significant role in your results.
What Skin Concerns Can Tixel® 2 Address?
Tixel® 2 is remarkably versatile, capable of addressing a wide range of skin concerns across multiple treatment areas. The ability to adjust treatment intensity means we can customize your session to target your specific needs.
Signs of Aging
Fine lines and wrinkles are among the most common concerns Tixel® 2 addresses. By stimulating collagen production and promoting skin cell turnover, treatments can smooth crow’s feet, forehead lines, and those stubborn lip lines that lipstick loves to feather into. The thermal energy also provides a tightening effect, helping to address mild skin laxity.
Texture and Tone
If your skin has lost its smoothness over time, perhaps feeling rough, uneven, or dull, Tixel® 2 can help restore a more refined texture. The exfoliative removal of the top layer of skin reveals fresher cells underneath, while the collagen stimulation improves overall tone and radiance.
Acne Scarring
For those living with the lasting reminder of past breakouts, Tixel® 2 offers a path to smoother skin. The controlled micro injuries trigger the skin’s healing cascade, helping to remodel scar tissue and improve the appearance of pitted or textured acne scars over time.
Pigmentation Concerns
Sun damage, age spots, and uneven pigmentation can all be addressed with Tixel® 2. The treatment helps to reduce superficial pigmentation while encouraging the growth of new, evenly pigmented skin cells. For more stubborn concerns like melasma, the open channel treatment level can enhance the penetration of targeted topical treatments.
Delicate Areas Other Treatments Can’t Reach
One of Tixel® 2’s standout features is its ability to safely treat areas that many other technologies simply cannot. The upper and lower eyelids, the delicate skin around the mouth, the neck, and décolletage, all of these areas can be treated effectively. This makes Tixel® 2 particularly valuable for addressing hooded eyelids, crepey neck skin, and chest wrinkles.
Treatment Areas: Where Can Tixel® 2 Be Used?
Tixel® 2’s gentle yet effective approach means it can be used on virtually any area of the face and body. At Lift Clinic Toronto, we commonly treat the full face for overall rejuvenation; the eye area, including both upper and lower eyelids, for a more refreshed appearance; the neck and décolletage to address crepey skin and discolouration; the jawline for improved skin laxity and refined contours; the hands to reduce age spots and crepey texture; and body areas affected by stretch marks or scarring.
What to Expect During Your Tixel® 2 Treatment
Understanding what happens during and after your treatment helps you feel prepared and confident. Here’s a walk through of the Tixel® 2 experience at Lift Clinic Toronto.
Before Your Treatment
To achieve the best results, we recommend avoiding sun exposure and tanning for one to two weeks before your appointment. You’ll also want to discontinue retinol and other exfoliants three to five days prior. If you have a history of cold sores, let us know, we can discuss preventive antiviral medication, as skin resurfacing treatments can sometimes trigger a flare. On the day of your treatment, arrive with clean skin free of makeup.
During Your Treatment
Each session takes approximately 45 to 90 minutes, making it convenient even for busy schedules. We begin by applying a topical anaesthetic cream to ensure your comfort. Once your skin is properly numbed and cleansed, your practitioner will use the Tixel® 2 device to create a grid like pattern of micro-channels across the treatment area.
You may feel warmth and slight pressure during the procedure, but most clients find it quite tolerable, significantly more comfortable than traditional laser resurfacing. After treatment, we apply a soothing hyaluronic acid mask to calm the skin and provide deep hydration through the micro-channels.
After Your Treatment
Immediately following treatment, your skin will appear red and feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. This typically subsides within four to six hours, with visible redness improving over the next 24 to 48 hours. Mild swelling, particularly around the eyes, may occur and can last up to 72 hours, sleeping with your head elevated for a night or two helps minimize this.
During the first week, small dot patterns and tiny scabs are normal as your skin heals. These will naturally shed within a few days to a week, resist the urge to pick at them. Your skin may feel dry, tight, and have a sandpaper texture during healing, so hydrating serums and plenty of water are essential.
You can resume makeup and sunscreen application 24 hours after treatment. For the first two to three weeks, avoid direct sun exposure, always wear broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, and hold off on exfoliants or active ingredients like retinol or glycolic acid.
When Will I See Results?
Many clients notice improved texture and tone after just one or two treatments. However, the most significant improvements develop progressively over three to six months as collagen remodelling continues beneath the surface.
For optimal results, we typically recommend three treatment sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. The exact number depends on your specific concerns and goals, something we’ll discuss during your consultation. To maintain your results and keep collagen production stimulated, maintenance treatments every six to twelve months are beneficial.
How Does Tixel® 2 Compare to Other Treatments?
With so many skin resurfacing options available, understanding where Tixel® 2 fits can help you make an informed decision.
Tixel® 2 vs. Laser Resurfacing
Traditional ablative lasers like CO2 can deliver dramatic results, but they come with significant downtime, often one to two weeks of peeling, redness, and crusting. Tixel® 2 can achieve comparable collagen stimulation with a fraction of the recovery time. Additionally, because Tixel® 2 doesn’t use light energy, there’s less risk of hyperpigmentation, making it safer for a broader range of skin tones.
Tixel® 2 vs. Microneedling
Both treatments create micro-channels that trigger the skin’s healing response. However, Tixel® 2 adds the benefit of controlled thermal energy, which provides additional skin tightening and texture improvement that microneedling alone cannot achieve. The heat component also allows for better product penetration and enhanced collagen stimulation.
Tixel® 2 vs. Chemical Peels
While deep chemical peels can effectively resurface skin, they work primarily on the surface and often require significant healing time. Tixel® 2 works at multiple levels, exfoliating the surface while also stimulating collagen production in the deeper dermis, with less downtime and more customizable intensity.
